Synopsis
Waldo and Shey are in love. Waldo, who lives in Berlin, travels to Lisbon to meet Shey. Their encounter will disclose the emotional tension of their bond and the doubts about their cultural and historical identity as Afro-Portuguese.
Biographies
Hoji Fortuna is an Angolan-Portuguese actor who performs internationally in film, TV, and theatre. He is an Africa Movie Academy Award winner for his performance as César in the internationally acclaimed crime-drama ‘Viva Riva’. A father of two boys, he also lends his voice to animated films, having performed in at least one award-winning film, ‘Another Day of Life’, about the civil war in Angola, Winner of Best Animation at the European Film Awards and the Goya Awards in 2019. In 2021, he served as a jury member at the Carthage Film Festival. ‘A Lisbon Affair’ is his first directing project, and he is currently writing his second.
Pocas Pascoal studied cinema in Paris, then directed several documentaries and short films. In 2002, she participated in contemporary modern art exhibitions with the art group Cite Internationale. ‘There is Always Somebody Who Loves You’, her 2004 documentary, was shown in many festivals. ‘All is Well’, her first narrative feature film, was the winner of Best Narrative Film at the 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival, and ‘Sopro’ her documentary from 2021 was the winner of Árvore da Vida Award at IndieLisboa – International Film Festival in 2021.
Margarida Cardoso is an independent filmmaker whose films were screened in many festivals, such as Rotterdam, Venice, and Locarno where she was given the award “Leopard de Demain” in 1999. She worked for several years in France and Portugal, as assistant director, camera assistant and script assistant in more than 50 feature films. In 1995 she started directing her own films, exploring subjects which cross her personal history experiences and prominent issues in recent Portuguese history, such as the colonial war in Africa, the revolution, and the post-colonialism years. The documentaries ‘Natal 71’ and ‘Kuxa Kanema – O Nascimento do Cinema’, and the feature film ‘A Costa dos Murmúrios’, are amongst her best known films, and all relate to her experience in colonial and post-colonial Portuguese Africa. Her latest film, ‘SITA – A Vida e o Tempo de Sita Valles’, was an official selection at IndieLisboa 2022.
Ciomara Morais was born in Angola in 1984. She is of Angolan, Portuguese, Macanese and Japanese descent. She is a journalist, and an actress since 2005. In 2012 she received two awards for best actress in the movie ‘All is Well’, directed by Pocas Pascoal. In 2012 Ciomara directed her first short film entitled ‘Encontro com o Criador’. In 2018 she wrote, produced and starred in the sitcom ‘Querida Preciosa’, broadcasted by RTP África. In 2022 she finished her second short film as a director ‘Já Te Disse Que Te Amo?’. It is her aim to continue to write and produce projects that humanize and tell love stories about Black people.
Lucila Clemente is a Brazilian actress and TV host. She has a Masters in Ethno-Racial Relationships by the Federal Center for Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET/RJ), a Post-Graduate degree in Physicality for The Theatre Arts by the Angel Vianna Faculty of Dance/Rio de Janeiro and she is graduated in Acting for the Theatre by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She also has a degree in Radio and TV Hosting by OSCIP Padre Landell de Moura/RS. Lucila started her acting career and research in Black Theatre in 2008 with the theatre troup Caixa-Preta, in Porto Alegre/RS. From 2010 to 2012 she develops with other troups two shows, “Ayê” and “No Palco Ruth de Souza”. From 2014 to 2019 she is part of the project Galera Curtição, creating activities that focus on racism, gender equality and sexualidade, among others. In 2019, she was a speaker at CEFET/RJ and UFSCar/SP. She is currently a consultant and speaker on racial diversity at Instituto Identidades do Brasil, besides developing independent projects.
