Mattia Ferretti

Mattia Ferretti (Atripalda, 1987) lives and works in Turin. In 2011 he graduated in Communication Sciences (UNIBAS_Potenza) and in 2018 in Painting (AABA_Turin).

His research is presented as a reflection on ‘distance’, understood both as a literary subject and as the deviation that occurs on the planes of reality in the process of image representation. His work has been presented in institutions, galleries and independent spaces including: Museo Giovanni Fattori (LI), Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense (MI); Fondazione Merz (TO); The Blank Contemporary Art (BG); Fondazione Videoinsight (TO); Via Industriae (PG);Fondazione SoutHeritage (MT).

Among the various prizes and awards VideoInsight-Prize 2022 (finalist); Combat 2018-19 (finalist) Francesco Fabbri 2017 (finalist). In 2019 he is in residencies at The Blank (Bergamo) and Via Industriae (Foligno); and in 2023 at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts.

His work has been included in the project INDEX – Repertory of Contemporary Art in Basilicata- by the SoutHeritage Foundation (Matera).
