Jess Zamora-Turner is an artist and grower based between Berlin and western Poland.
Jess’s practice can best be described as patchworking, making materials and histories belong together in ways they weren’t meant to. As textiles, thread and seeds come together in her sculptures, they propose alternative landscapes that challenge political and environmental realities. She frequently collaborates with poets, musicians, cooks, dancers, performers and filmmakers to activate her works through workshops and collective events. For seven years she has tended a garden on the Polish German border, where she grows a selection of Andean heirloom maíz and stewards at risk heirloom seed varieties alongside regional native herbs and plants.
Jess has exhibited at Shahin Zarinbal and Galerie Molitor in Berlin and at Hotel Warszawa Art Fair in Warsaw, Poland. Her collaboration with musicians and dancers, a public performance Zaplatanie was staged in Hasenheide Park in Berlin in 2022.
