Irene Nerys (Italy, 1990) is a dancer and performer. Lives and works in Paris. Graduated from École Philippe Gaulier (France) she studied repertory and contemporary, modern dance techniques with Hofesh Schetchter’s Company, Batsheva’s Company, Forsythe’s Company, Martin Kilvady, Emanuel Gat, Shiro Daîmon and approaches Oriental, Jazz, Hip-hop and Kabuki Dance. She danced with the company Tellurgie, directed by Assia Guemra (Paris) during the season 2015/2016. She has been studying law at the University of Torino and Beijing school of Government, music and harmony at Conservatorio G. Verdi in Torino. Irene’s research focuses on movement and the capacity of adaptation that the human body develops in different environments. The relationship between the different layers that compose the personal sphere, such as psychological and physical statement, inner and outside reflections of the personality, private and public life is part of her interests. Nerys is currently developing a multi-platform/experimental dance-video show entitled “A Doll Face”, that has been created along her several journeys to Berlin, Paris, Israel and Italy.
Irene Nerys has been artist in residency at TAKT, Berlin, in 2016, where she presented her work at Tapir Gallery and in Guanajuato, Mexico, at Centro Baharati in 2015 with the solo performance “The Unknown”. She participated as performer at the festival Biennale of Venice in 2013 and 2016, for Motus company and Roger Bernat. Since 2015 she is member of the International Dance Council of the UNESCO.
