Daniel Barroca was born in Lisbon in 1976. He studied at ESAD.CR at the Caídas da Raínha between 1996 and 2001 and at Ar.Co in 2002. He received the Prémio União Latina (Latina Union Award) for the Jovem Criaçao no Domínio das Artes Plásticas (Young Upbringing in Dominion of the Fine Arts) in 2004. He was an artist in residence at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in 2008 (Bolsa João Hogan– Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian) and at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in 2010 and 2011. Between 2013 and 2015 he was one of the artist participants at the Home Works Program at Ashkal Alwan in Beirut. At the moment he is one of artist participants of the Open Sessions in the Drawing Center in New York and is a fellow of the Fundação Marcelino Botín with the project A world more mobile than stable.
