Yvan Alvarez by Icaro July 23, 2023 0 Portfolios

Trained as a photographer, Yvan Alvarez continued his studies at the HEAD-Geneva in visual arts. It is in the phenomena of everyday life that he extracts existing elements to replay, remake or move them to the exhibition space, giving rise to sculptures, installations or photographs (notably with the photogram technique) and proposing to pay attention to trivial details often linked to bigger issues. Recently, he had a solo exhibition at Société des Arts de Genève (2023), and his first institutional solo exhibition took place at the Kunst(Zeug)Haus of Rapperswil-Jona (Switzerland) in 2018. He collaborated in several duo shows with Colin Raynal or with Paul Hutzli under the curatorship of Sylvain Gelewski (Soul2Soul, Geneva, 2020). Since 2014, he has also participated in several collective exhibitions such as Kunstforum Bâloise (Basel), Centre d’Art Contemporain de Genève, Oslo10 (Basel), Kunsthaus Langenthal, Zabriskie Point (Geneva), Halle Nord (Geneva) or more recently at Bacio Collective (Bern).
