Tanya Pixie Johnson was born in Nairobi, Kenya. Her family moved to South Africa when she was a young girl. She attended the Michaelis School of Art at the University of Cape Town, where she received an honours degree in fine art; majoring in painting. Tanya Pixie has lived in many countries around Europe and North America. Currently she lives partly in British Columbia, Canada and partly in Cape Town, South Africa. Her visual language is expressed through painting, drawing, collage, paper cutting, printmaking, installation, design, painting in public spaces and collaborations with playwrights and choreographers. Tanya Pixie’s work has been shown in numerous public and private exhibitions.
