EDP Prize –Tomie Ohtake Institute & EDP Institute

Marie Carangi (Recife-PE, Brazil, 1989) graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from UFPE, works in the creation of contexts and situations focused on the female body as an aesthetic, political and narrative agent of oneself. Her researches, which involve identity, clothing, ethnicity, ancestry, social costumes, environmental and collective experiences, unfold in performance, video, sound art, drawing, photography and object.
Begins the performance-service work “Peluqueria Carangi” in the Lesbian Bar by the artist Fernando Peres in Recife-PE. Inaugurates an individual GRITO CORTE in the First Program of Exhibitions of the CCSP, São Paulo-SP, 2015. Participated in the residences CASA COMUM, Rio de Janeiro-RJ; Margins, Belém-PA, and Q21 Museums Quartier, Vienna-AT.
Award-winning artist at the 6th edition of EDP in the Arts of the Tomie Ohtake Institute with the performance-installation Tetaço Geral, 2018. Her most recent work is a performance and sound piece Teta Lírica, launched by the project “O Obscuro Fichário dos Artistas Mundanos”. Teta Lyrica was at the MasturBar by Fabiana Faleiros at the 10th Berlin Biennale, 2018.
