Mariana Najmanovich (Buenos Aires, 1983) has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, a master’s degree in Painting from the University of Finis Terrae (2011) and a Master’s Degree in Artistic Creation from the University of Barcelona (2005). Her work combines pictorial experimentation with a systematic reflection on the psychological aspects of violence and power. Taking photographic archives as a starting point, Najmanovich explores an uncomfortable and painful area of history, which is often omitted by official speeches.
Mariana has exhibited in important galleries and museums, such as MAVI Museum of Visual Arts (Santiago, Chile); M100 Cultural Center (Santiago, Chile); MAC Museum of Contemporary Art (Santiago, Chile); Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB); Sobering Gallery (Paris, France); The Museum of America (Madrid, Spain) and Tyler Art Gallery of the State University of New York (SUNY). She lives and works in Santiago, Chile.
