Julia Gallo was born in Rio de Janeiro and is an artist based in São Paulo, Brazil. Gallo has graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from São Paulo University Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado. She also took part in courses such as “Critical Monitoring of Painting”, with artists Regina Parra and Rodolpho Parigi; “Provenance and Property”, with Charles Watson, Eduardo Berliner, Cadu Costa, Frederico Carvalho and Arthur Chaves; “Installation and Sculpture: Contemporary Possibilities”, with artist Laura Belém. Drawing, painting and animation are the main poetic instruments Julia Gallo uses to address notions like the contemporary body and movement.
In recent years, she participated exhibitions at Museu de Arte Brasileira – MAB (SP), Galeria Millan (SP), Galeria Jaqueline Martins (SP) and Espaço Breu (SP). In 2016, she received the First Prize at 48ª Anual de Artes FAAP, awarded by Rivane Neuenschwander, Thiago Honório e and Josué Mattos.
