Ihosvanny is an autodidact artist who transits between painting, video and installation. In his works the artist approaches the physical chaos and the psychic experiences of urbanism. The urban landscape of Luanda provides a constant source of material for Ihosvanny’s work: scenes of disorder and prison are transmuted and synthesized into a reflective visual lexicon. Dividing his life and practice between Barcelona and Luanda, Ihosvanny’s work was included in exhibitions at the Jewish Museum of New York (USA), Museum of Modern Art of Bahia (Brazil), 11th Havana Biennial of Art (Cuba); Triennale of Luanda (Angola); and the African Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennial (Italy), among others.
