Charles Bhebe (Zimbabwe)
Charles Bhebe was born in Lupane, Zimbabwe. He lives and works in Bulawayo. Bhabe studied fine art at Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre. His first professional studio was at the National Art Gallery in Bulawayo from 1997 -1998, as a freelance artist. In 1998 he to Germany where he lived for 6 years. His two-dimensional work focusses on figurative images and their relation to the social scope. He develops a visual language for his emotional experience and discovered a mode of expressing himself visually through his elements (Figures), line and colour. His work has a strong interest in human interactions in urban environment – street hawkers, touts, obscure characters man and woman inhabiting urban spaces. His process involves picking these characters to mediate his message, the characters then become objects of his narratives. The paintings often integrate elements of familiarity to seek dialogue and understanding with his audience. He has been part of the Zimbabwean Pavilion team at the Venice Biennale 2017.

Francis Nii Obodai Provencal (Ghana)
Nii Obodai is a photographer based in Accra, Ghana. His photography investigates aspects of the complex relationships within urban and rural culture, recording the dynamic reality of our spirituality and environment, telling the stories of the people he connects with. He has exhibited widely. Nii Obodai is a founding member of the Accra based, Beyond Collective. He has established Nuku Studio, which facilitates an annual workshop program to develop photographic knowledge, creativity, visual literacy and better communication skills for photographers. The studio also offers residencies and photographic project management support services.

Nikissi Serumaga (Uganda)
Nikissi Serumaga is the program manager of 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, created for the professional development of Ugandan artists. In conjunction with her colleagues, she develops and executes a year-round programming which showcases the works of 32° East’s previous artists in residence, offers members and residents resources to increase their technical skills and assists them concept development. Previous to the 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, she connected with African film through her coordinator role at Encounters Documentary Festival in Cape Town, as programmer at Maisha African Film Festival in Gulu, her support of Africa/Middle East portfolio at Toronto International Film Festival and as casting associate on the feature film Queen of Katwe (dir. Mira Nair, 2016) in Kampala. Nikissi has also made a short documentary “The Master and the Movie Doctor”, the video piece “Speak Soon” as part of the E.A.S.T pop-up residency and installation, “Our Things” with Ugandan photographer Darlyne Komukama. She has also been published in Pencil Tribe Magazine and in Toronto International Film Festival’s “Review” as well has featuring on their “Yo! Adrien” podcasts.
