Felipe Vasquez was born in 1986 in Cali, Colombia. He currently lives and works in Paris. He obtained a BFA in photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2016. In 2020, he graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris where he studied in the ateliers of Emmanuelle Huynh, Alvaro Urbano, Petrit Halilaj, Angelica Mesiti and Nathalie Talec. Vasquez’ artistic practice in Europe focuses on performance, dance, vocal works, poetry and installation. He uses his body and voice as a means of emotional release to study humanity’s relationship to the natural world, the magnitude of heightened emotional stimuli and vulnerability as a focal point of strength. A frequent protagonist of his own confrontational works, Vasquez calls for a dialogue on the extreme phases of the human experience: sexuality, identity, spirituality, interspecies dynamics, the alarming conditions of our environment, consumerism, and the social parameters of vilification and marginalization.
