Joana Júdice is a writer whose practice moves across poetry, photography, video, and visual expression.
Her work explores the intersections between language, image, memory, and place. Poetry often functions like music or painting: it seeks to create an experience that extends beyond words and invites deeper forms of perception and reflection.
She worked as a Journalist, a designer, a photographer, videographer and creative director and Will publish soon her first book – a poetry collection called “Menos círculos, mais amor”.
She’s currently working in a new book based on traveling and life stories, a documental and passional book that reflects on our existence in the world—as tourists, as citizens, and as human beings—and examines the ways we relate to places, cultures, and one another.
A central thread in her current research in this residence revolves around a question that continues to guide her artistic inquiry: What are we truly searching for in life? She is particularly interested in how our desires, aspirations, and sense of belonging may be shaped by childhood experiences and personal histories.
Her practice is deeply informed by the study of human experience and draws inspiration from anthropology, sociology, and psychology. Through writing and visual storytelling, she seeks to investigate the forces that shape us, the connections we build with others and with our environment, and the questions that remain at the core of our shared existence.
She sees artistic creation as a form of research—one that allows us to explore complexity, challenge assumptions, and uncover new ways of understanding ourselves and the world around us.
