Gegé M’bakudi

Born on 12/15/1999 in Luanda, in the former municipality of Sambizanga, Resem Verkron began his artistic expressions during childhood, but it was only during his adolescence that he saw himself as a visual artist. Between 2015 and 2018, he studied civil construction at the Industrial Secondary School of Luanda (Makarenco). Later, he abandoned his childhood dream of becoming an architect to pursue a career as an independent artist.

In 2020, he launched a portrait collection inspired by young Africans, with one of them featured in QUAL FUTURO? by LABCC, and he joined the IBAKU collective as artistic director. In 2021, he presented MVUMA at CASA REDE and earned 3rd place in the PLASTICAMENTE ARTE competition by ECO ANGOLA.

In 2022, during his first residency at ATELIER MUTAMBA, he exhibited AZUL LUANDA and directed the TV series NJILA for KWENDA MAGIC. In 2023, he participated in the MAR residency at Galeria MOVART and exhibited at O CORPO TÂNTRICO at the Instituto Camões Portuguese Cultural Center.

In 2024, he debuted his solo exhibition AZULIBRANCO – The Chromatics of Chaos, held a collaborative exhibition at the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, won the Artist of the Year award, and participated in the ARTESERRINHA residency in Brazil.
