Alessandra Carosi is an Italian visual artist based in Paris, where she has an atelier at POUSH.
Her practice is mainly focused on the photographic medium with a visual art approach, mixing photography with psychology and anthropology. She works with abstraction, evocation and symbolism to translate emotional aspects into “visual synesthesias”.
She is as well interested in investigating the possibility to overcome the limit of the photographic medium and transcending the photographic surface. Her projects have been exhibited internationally in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, China and Japan.
She won the first prize at San Fedele Award for Visual Arts (Milan) 2018 and her dummy Ruota has been shortlisted at Kassel Dummy Award and PWA Aarhus Dummy award. She has been shortlisted in several international contests like Emergentes Award-Encontros da Imagem (PT), Fondazione Fabbri Award(IT), Odessa Photodays Award(UKR), l’Image Satellite (FR), Bourse du Talent (Honorable Mention in Portrait, FR), Lucie Foundation Scholarship (USA), Premio Prina and Combat (IT).
After graduating in Industrial Design, she attended a Master in Photography at IUAV in Venice. She regularly participates in Residencies programs like Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (FR), UNIdee-Fondazione Pistoletto (IT), Bolit Centre d’Art Contemporani (SP). Her artworks are present in private and public collections including Bibliothèque National de France.
