Caroline Valansi is visual artist, and teacher of photography and arts. Her artistic work is located between the physical space and the fiction. Her artworks were always rooted on her strong interest in collective practices, as well as in intimate narratives. Caroline uses familiar visual materials within her research, like: film theatres photographs, old porn film posters, Internet images, and also her own photographs and drawings. Those items, together, means a wide range of contemporary feminine sexuality representation – the field of her daily work.

She has a degree in Cinema, taken at Estácio de Sá University, and a post-graduation in Art and Philosophy studies, taken at Pontifical Catholic University. She also has complemented her educational background with several courses at Visual Arts School of Parque Lage, and Ateliê da Imagem. All institutions are based in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

She is a former member of the art collective OPAVIVARÁ!, (2007–2014). She took part in artist residency programs like: Capacete (Rio de Janeiro, 2015); Espaço Fonte (Recife, 2014); Terra Una (Liberdade, MG, 2010); and Casa Tomada – Open Studio #2 (São Paulo, 2010). She also has organized the venues: “{|}XANADONA{|}”, at A Gentil Carioca gallery (Rio de Janeiro, 2016); and “Feminismo e Feijoada”, at Capacete (Rio de Janeiro, 2015).
