Ekaterina Shcherbakova (born in Novorossiisk, 1990) lives and works in Paris. She is an artist, curator and writer, whose practice engages the potential of the invisible and the unspoken. Her work is often process-based and anchored in preverbal states of mind. Taking a deep dive into autofiction, she explores such themes as the female experience, motherhood, sacred, magic, and language performativity. The materials and objects she works with – menstrual blood, ashes, clay, earth, beeswax, bed linen, red threads – are chosen for their symbolic values.
Ekaterina is the alumni of Ecole du Magasin (Grenoble, France) and the art department of Paris 8 University. She has collaborated with such institutions as Typography Art Center, Parc Saint-Léger, Le CAP Saint-Fons, Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, Venice Biennale, Kimonos Art Center, etc.
