PERSPEKTIVE
German-French Fund for Contemporary Art and Architecture
This year’s call begins on October 1, 2019
PERSPEKTIVE is a German-French fund for contemporary art and architecture that promotes artistic exchange between both countries. Initiated by the Bureau des arts plastiques of the Institut français Germany, the German-French call for project has been announced every year since 2014. Exchange and dialogue are the main criteria: encounters between artists, architects, curators, critics, and art mediators from both countries will be selected for funding in order to facilitate the dissemination of ideas, works, and discourses across borders.
The open call is addressed to cultural institutions such as museums, art and architecture centers, art associations, architectural studios, and independent exhibition spaces in the fields of contemporary art and architecture in Germany and France.
Initiatives can apply for project funding starting October 1 until December 1, 2019. The application takes place once a year and projects must be implemented in the following year.
-PERSPEKTIVE’s funding is aimed at temporary projects that promote exchange and dialogue between France and Germany: debates, collaborations, encounters, ideas and research labs, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and symposiums.
-The funding is specifically aimed at French (or French-based) participants in Germany or German (or German-based) participants in France.
-The projects must be supported by a German or French organization (museum, Kunstverein, art center, architecture center, project space, artist-run space, or architect’s office). Projects from individuals as well as projects by or including students from (art) schools are not eligible for funding
-PERSPEKTIVE funds a maximum of 30% of the total project budget.
An independent jury of German and French experts, headed by Marie Graftieaux (new director of the Bureau des arts plastiques), will select the winning projects. The announcement of projects to be supported by PERSPEKTIVE in 2020 will take place in February.
The jury is made up of the following professionals:
-Eike Becker Architect, Eike Becker_Architekten, Berlin
-Jacques Ferrier Architect and city planner, Paris
-Hélène Guenin Director Musée d’Art moderne et d’Art contemporain (MAMAC), Nice
-Christina Landbrecht Art program director, Schering Foundation, Berlin
-Jean-Hubert Martin Curator, Paris
A new jury member is to be announced.
