What does collaboration look like when curating from, and with an experimental project space that is located inside a big institution: the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam? Founding curator Rita Ouédraogo will invite you into her curatorial practice at Buro Stedelijk. Buro Stedelijk is a place to discover Amsterdam’s dynamic and forward-thinking art scene. By fostering collaboration between artists, communities, and institutions, Buro Stedelijk aims to inspire new perspectives and active civic participation.
Rita Ouédraogo is an Amsterdam-based curator, researcher and writer. She develops ongoing experimental and collaborative projects and public programs on collaboration, archives, colonialism, African-diaspora, institutional power, counter-culture, popular culture and social issues. She holds a MSc in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. Ouédraogo worked on various projects aimed at making museum collections more widely accessible as well as on projects outside of institutional structures. She researches questions related to cooperation and solidarity that explores modes of collaborative practices across power differentials, especially within a decolonial framework. She is the co-founding and curator of Buro Stedelijk, Stedelijk Museum’s project space. A place to discover Amsterdam’s dynamic and forward-thinking art scene.
