For more informations:

Our annual residency applications for 2018 are now open. This year we will be accepting applications for our annual 1-3 month studio residencies as well as two new residencies in conjunction with London School of Economics, Makerere Univeristy and Cambridge University as detailed in the sections below.

For our regular annual residencies, we invite visual artists who are looking to develop their practice to submit their applications throughout the month of October. You can apply through this form. Residences will take place at 32° East for up to 3 months in 2018 in Kampala, Uganda.

Flexible in format, our residencies are focused on assisting an artist to develop into the next stage of their career. This can include the development of a concept, pushing the limits of their respective mediums and/or intensive research. We are also focused on integrating local and international artists into Kampala’s arts community.

Our residency offers:
– Studio space for up to three months
– Weekly travel per diem (for travel within Kampala)
– Monthly materials budget
– Access to our library (which is focused on African contemporary art)
– Mentorship opportunities with 32° East staff and previous artists in residence.

Previous artists in residence include Stacey Gillian, Xenson, Eria Nsubuga, Pamela Enyonu and more. We look forward to the next round of residents in 2018!
