Taya

Born in Lobito, Angola, and currently based in Lisbon, Portugal, Taya is a painter, educator, and graphic designer. Her artistic practice draws on the visual language of contemporary design while remaining deeply rooted in her African heritage and the experience of living between cultures. Working through abstraction, she explores the relationship between the inner world and our shared reality, engaging with themes of presence, consciousness, and transformation. Inspired by the rhythms of nature and an ongoing exploration of the human mind, Taya has developed a visual language that brings together geometric precision and organic forms. Her paintings inhabit the space between the visible and the invisible, creating quiet moments of contemplation and self-reflection. At the core of her practice is the belief that the way we cultivate our inner world profoundly shapes how we perceive, experience, and engage with life. In a time defined by constant speed and fragmentation, her work invites viewers to pause, turn inward, and reflect: What exists beyond what we believe ourselves to be?
Who are we beyond the identity we have constructed?
