Cecilia García-Giralda Rodriguez’s artistic research deals with how we represent ourselves and with the consolidation of a new communication system, a hybrid between the intimate and the public space.
Through photography, painting, sculpture and installation, the artist deals with issues of cultural heritage, patriarchal canons, the artificiality of beauty as a concept or the use of the female representation as sexual object. The heir of a kitsch tradition, Cecília approaches seemingly peripheral issues in art with a mix of rebellion, romanticism and vulnerability, all the while avoiding dealing with the work of art as a finish product.
