John-Patrick Ayson is a writer, artist & PhD candidate at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo; among various concerns, his works focus on the role of mobile technologies as utilities for the modern person’s everyday life & the new normals we are faced with as a global society in both pandemicized & post-pandemic worlds.
The Buffet is a multi-channel, installation version of an ongoing series of short films which focuses on The Meal as both an old & new space for social interaction & excessive consumption — & the smartphone as the everyday person’s tool with which s/he can share their lone, individuated life in a hyper-globalized, hyper self-surveilled world.
