The second chapter, [Gharassou fa akalnah, gharasna fa saya’koulouh – For an Ethic of Gardens] opens with chanting, Amdah, calling the prophet. Entangled joyful voices. Hands and tables as instruments.

Mohammed Soudani tells us the story of a 90 year old man who was planting a tree despite his imminent death: « gharassou fa akalnah, gharasna fa saya’koulouh » – They planted and we ate, we will plant and they will eat -. According to Soudani, the world destruction is caused by individualism, that disconnects humans from the rest of beings… Laarssa was not a shelter only for animals, plants and other creatures, but also for refugees and people who had mental problems. “Do you understand how much did Laarssa carry?”

As private properties, Laarassi were still open for any member of the community. Many inhabitants of neighbouring derbs used to work in the closest Aarssat, which reinforced communitarian entanglements. This also took other forms of solidarity: free access to saguia (canals), to a road…

And chapter 2 closes as it began, with women joyful chanting.
