Surname \u201cX\u201d to erase the prefix \u201cBlack\u201d which always comes first than the first name. We got to her, in fact to them, to the centennial Carolina and Maria Teodora Doutora, through newspapers that gave account of their passing, in 1943 and 1920 respectively. Were they, both of them, the \u201clast\u201d enslaved people in Lisbon?<\/p>\n

Who is she who poses, standing barefoot in Avenida da Liberdade, for photographer Charles Chusseau-Flaviens, with her chest filled with rosaries, as if she wears a lengthy row of amulets? Quem \u00e9 ela que pousa de p\u00e9, descal\u00e7a, em plena Av. da Liberdade para o fot\u00f3grafo Charles Chusseau-Flavies, com o peito cheio de ros\u00e1rios, como quem usa uma extensa fiada de amuletos? [\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Isab\u00e9l Zuaa<\/strong> is a multidisciplinary artist born in Lisbon, with roots in Guinea-Bissau and Angola. She focuses on dramaturgies that highlight Black people as protagonists. Trained in acting at Chapit\u00f4, the School of Theatre and Cinema, and Unirio, she has been involved in theatre, film, television, and performance projects predominantly in Brazil and Portugal since 2010.<\/p>\n

In 2019, together with Cleo Di\u00e1ra and N\u00e1dia Yracema, she founded the collective AURORA NEGRA, which debuted the play “Aurora Negra” at TNDM II, followed by “COSMOS” in 2022 and “Miss\u00e3o da Miss\u00e3o” in 2023. The collective also created the KILOMBO Festival.<\/p>\n

Isab\u00e9l has been recognized with several awards, including Best Actress at the 2020 Gramado Festival for the film “Um Animal Amarelo” Best Supporting Actress at the 2023 Cineuphoria Awards for the film “A viagem de Pedro,” and the Guarani Award for Best Actress in 2022 for the film “Um Animal Amarelo,” along with several other honorable mentions and awards for her performances in films such as “Joaquim,” “Good Manners,” “O Novelo” “Estamos todos na sarjeta” and “Malandro de Ouro.” She was recognized by BANTUMEN POWERLIST as one of the 100 most influential personalities in the Lusophone world in 2021 and 2022.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]Isab\u00e9l Zuaa<\/strong> \u00e9 uma artista multidisciplinar nascida em Lisboa, com ra\u00edzes na Guin\u00e9-Bissau e Angola. Foca-se em dramaturgias que destacam pessoas negras como protagonistas. Formada em interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o no Chapit\u00f4, na Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema e na Unirio, tem estado envolvida em projetos de teatro, cinema, televis\u00e3o e performance, principalmente no Brasil e em Portugal, desde 2010.<\/p>\n
