[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black”][vc_column_text]K\u00eania Freitas and Raphael Fonseca will discuss some of the main topics of the sequence of videos presented in this session. Futurism, the use of computer-generated images, and the relations between these works and the recent and past historical episodes in Brazilian history are some subjects that will be part of this live dialogue.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column][vc_separator color=”black”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column][vc_column_text]K\u00eania Freitas<\/strong> is a curator and programmer at Cinema do Drag\u00e3o. She has a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, giving lectures, workshops, and short courses on Afrofuturism and Film Criticism. She has been writing for the movie site Multiplot! since 2012. She is a member of FICINE – For\u00fam Itinerante de Cinema Negro.<\/p>\n

Raphael Fonseca<\/strong>\u00a0(1988, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a researcher in the areas of art history, criticism, curatorship and education. He has a special interest in the relations between art, visual culture and history in their various conceptions. The juxtaposition of different temporalities and how this can trigger contemporary reflections for audiences is of great importance in his practice. Humor, absurdity, pop culture and the notion that an exhibition relates to the ideas of assembly, set design and spectacle has grown among his research interests. Fonseca is the first curator of modern and contemporary Latin American art at the Denver Art Museum, USA. He worked as a curator at MAC Niter\u00f3i between 2017 and 2020. He holds a doctoral degree in Art Critic and Art History from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), and has received the Marcantonio Vila\u00e7a Curatorship Award (2015).
