Many ideas propagated were never questioned after the reestablishment of democracy and after the independence of Portuguese-speaking countries.<br \/>\nThis free course will discuss how the propaganda \u2013 and censorship \u2013 of the Estado Novo determined the representations concerning Portuguese-speaking countries, including the cases of \u201cPortuguese Asia\u201d. It will also debate the evidences of the (im)possibility of another look at the former Portuguese colonies in works by Cinema Novo that were censored and banned, and will address the uses of cinema by different political movements during the liberation struggles in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Class 1<\/strong> \u2013 Overseas Blues. With a doctorate, a master&#8217;s degree and a degree in Communication Sciences, she developed the post-doctoral research \u201c\u2018 Cinema Imp\u00e9rio \u2019. Portugal, France and England, representations of the empire in cinema\u201d (2013-2018), having, in this context, been a guest researcher at the CFAC-University of Reading. She is a film programmer and was deputy chairman of the Institute of Cinema, Audiovisual and Multimedia (1998-1999).<\/p>\n<p>She has published, among other books and articles, Azuis Ultramarinos. Colonial advertising and censorship in the cinema of the Estado Novo\u201d (2015), and coordinated, with Jorge Ant\u00f3nio, the trilogy Angola, the birth of a nation (2013, 2014, 2015) and, with Teresa Castro, (Re)Imagining African Independence. Film, Visual Arts and the Fall of the Portuguese Empire (2017). She has just published the chapter \u201cResistance and political awareness through the poetic gaze of Sarah Maldoror\u201d in the book Contemporary lusophone African film (Paulo de Medeiros and Livia Apa, 2020). Debater\u00e1 ainda as evid\u00eancias da (im)possibilidade de um outro olhar sobre as ex-col\u00f3nias portuguesas em obras de autor do Cinema Novo que foram censuradas e proibidas e abordar\u00e1 os usos do cinema pelos diferentes movimentos pol\u00edticos, durante as lutas de liberta\u00e7\u00e3o em \u00c1frica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>\u2022 Aula 1<\/strong> &#8211; Azuis ultramarinos. Doutorada, mestre e licenciada em Ci\u00eancias da Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o, desenvolveu a investiga\u00e7\u00e3o p\u00f3s-doutoral \u201c\u2018Cinema Imp\u00e9rio\u2019. Portugal, Fran\u00e7a e Inglaterra, representa\u00e7\u00f5es do imp\u00e9rio no cinema\u201d (2013-2018), tendo, nesse \u00e2mbito, sido investigadora convidada do CFAC-University of Reading. \u00c9 programadora de cinema e foi adjunta da presid\u00eancia do Instituto de Cinema, Audiovisual e Multim\u00e9dia (1998-1999).<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Publicou, entre outros livros e artigos, Azuis ultramarinos. Propaganda colonial e censura no cinema do Estado Novo\u201d (2015), e coordenou, com Jorge Ant\u00f3nio, a trilogia Angola, o nascimento de uma na\u00e7\u00e3o (2013, 2014, 2015) e, com Teresa Castro, (Re)Imagining African Independence. Film, Visual Arts and the Fall of the Portuguese Empire (2017). Acaba de publicar o cap\u00edtulo \u201cResistance and political awareness through the poetic gaze of Sarah Maldoror\u201d no livro Contemporary lusophone African film (Paulo de Medeiros e Livia Apa, 2020).
