This course aims to give participants basic tools for musical creation, from production and recording to mixing. The platform used is Ableton Live but the knowledge can be applied to any other DAW. It is divided into 10 modules (see attached program) with theoretical and practical classes; and 1-to-1 tutorials in which the individual creations of each student are worked together. Classes will be held weekly and last for one hour. The 1-to-1 tutorials will be bi-weekly and will last half an hour for each participant.<\/p>\n

He has released 3 albums (Rapres\u00e1lias 2001, Rapensar 2004 and Rapress\u00e3o 2012) and has several collaborations with other hip hop artists.<\/p>\n

His interest and exploration in writing led him to spoken word. Under the moniker, Sr. Preto, he has performed his written texts with several musicians. Shifting from Sr. Preto to AKapella47 he later collaborated with Sliitz in the videos \u201cDon\u2019t Believe da Hype\u201d and \u201cintenCIDADES\u201d. The text was shown in, \u201cPerif\u00e9rico\u201d at CCB and was the closer for Iminente 2017 hosted by VHILS.<\/p>\n

In addition to his music, Chullage does sound design and composition for theatre and visual arts. In the theatre, he has signed several pieces between Lisbon and London. He is currently a collaborator with The Griot theatre company where he has worked since 2013 making music and\/or sound design pieces such as \u201cPosso Saltar do Meio da Escurid\u00e3o e Morder\u201d, \u201cOs Negros\u201d, \u201cQue Ainda Algu\u00e9m Nos Invente\u201d and \u201cGera\u00e7\u00e3o da Utopia\u201d.<\/p>\n

As a sound designer, he collaborated with VHILS in his solo exhibitions: Haze \u2013 Cincinnati 2020, Incision – Curutiba 2019, Fragments Urbains \u2013 Paris 2018, Debris \u2013 Macau 2017, Debris \u2013 Hong Kong 2016, Dissection \u2013 Lisbon 2014; and Monica de Miranda in P\u00f3s-Arquivo, Lisbon 2020, South Circular \u2013 MAAT Lisbon, 2019, D\u00f3 \u2013 Luanda 2018, Beauty \u2013 Carlos Carvalho Gallery 2018.<\/p>\n

Chullage is also co-founder of the Peles Negras Mascaras Negras (\u201cBlack Skins Black Masks\u201d) \u2013 theatre for blackness. This began as a forum theatre group, and today with theatre, music, literacy and other tools, maintains a practice of horizontal discussion with the Cape Verdean community through art. PNMN are part of Khapaz \u2013 Cultural Association of Afrodescendants.<\/p>\n

He studied Mixing and Mastering Electronic Music at\u00a0Point Blank Music School (London \u2013 2017), Sound Design for Theatre at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London \u2013 2014-16) and Sound I and II at Restart (Lisbon \u2013 2010-12). He has also studied Sociology of Work \u2013 ISCSP \u2013 UTL.<\/p>\n

He teaches production courses such as the Hip Hop Module at the World Academy, and tutors young musicians in the Compasso project at Hangar \u2013 Centro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o Art\u00edstica, and \u201cNosso Bairro Nossa Cidade\u201d \u2013 Setubal Municipality.<\/p>\n

Musically, he is currently focused on the project\u00a0<\/span>pr\u00e9tu<\/b>. Esta forma\u00e7\u00e3o visa dotar\u00a0 os participantes de ferramentas b\u00e1sicas para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o musical, desde a produ\u00e7\u00e3o e grava\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 fase de mistura. A plataforma usada \u00e9 o Ableton Live mas os conhecimentos aplicam-se a qualquer outra DAW. Divide-se em 11 m\u00f3dulos, com aulas te\u00f3ricas e pr\u00e1ticas (consultar programa em anexo), e tutorias individuais em que se trabalha sobre as cria\u00e7\u00f5es individuais de cada aluna(o). As aulas ter\u00e3o periodicidade semanal e dura\u00e7\u00e3o de uma hora. As tutorias individuais ser\u00e3o quinzenais e ter\u00e3o a dura\u00e7\u00e3o de meia hora para cada participante.<\/span><\/p>\n

O interesse em explorar outros dom\u00ednios da palavra levou-o ao spoken word, onde durante muitos anos, como Sr. Preto, juntou os seus textos \u00e0 musica de colaboradores ou f\u00ea-los ouvir em eventos de palavra dita. Agora chama AKapella47 \u00e0 sua palavra. Deste projeto e, em colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com Sliitz, sa\u00edram os v\u00eddeos \u201cDon\u2019t Believe da Hype\u201d e \u201cintenCIDADES\u201d. Este \u00faltimo texto fez parte do espet\u00e1culo \u201cPerif\u00e9rico\u201d no CCB e fechou o Iminente 2017 de VHILS.<\/span><\/p>\n

Atualmente est\u00e1 focado no projeto, pr\u00e9tu. Neste, funde as suas origens e refer\u00eancias africanas, e em particular as cabo-verdianas, com as suas influ\u00eancias eletr\u00f3nicas e o seu pensamento sobre o pan-africanismo, o contexto pol\u00edtico de \u00c1frica e da sua di\u00e1spora.<\/span><\/p>\n

Para al\u00e9m da sua m\u00fasica, chullage faz desenho de som e composi\u00e7\u00e3o para teatro e artes visuais. No teatro j\u00e1 assinou v\u00e1rias pe\u00e7as entre Lisboa e Londres.<\/span><\/p>\n
