[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black”][vc_column_text]The curator Paula Nascimento will introduce themes raised by the videos in the exhibition\u00a0Intrepid Visions<\/strong><\/a>. She will talk with the Cape Verdean artist C\u00e9sar Schofield Cardoso about his video\u00a0Beton<\/strong>\u00a0and with Filipa C\u00e9sar about the video\u00a0Uma Cabana,\u00a0<\/strong>both of which are in the exhibition.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column][vc_separator color=”black”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Paula Nascimento<\/strong>\u00a0(Director of Beyond Entropy Africa) was born in Luanda in 1981.. She studied at Southbank University and at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.\u00a0 She works for \u00c1lvaro Siza Architects and RDA. At the moment, Paula Nascimento lives and works in Luanda and is a consultant for COCA Consultants of Energy and Environment. She is also the director of Beyond Entropy Africa. Since 2013 she has served as a member of the Inter-ministerial committee of the Republic of Angola for the Expo Milano in 2015. Also in 2013, she became curator of the Luanda exhibition Cidade Enciclop\u00e9dia (City Encyclopedia) with Stefano Rabli Pansera. The project was awarded the Le\u00e3o de Ouro in Bienal de Veneza.<\/p>\n

C\u00e9sar Schofield Cardoso\u00a0<\/strong>is a photographer and filmmaker, born in Mindelo, Cabo Verde.\u00a0His work has a strong current of political contestation and addresses themes such as freedom, citizenship, environmental and urban issues, among others. In 2006 he launched PRAIA.MOV, an urban culture movement in the city of Praia, Cabo Verde, in collaboration with architects, artists and activists.\u00a0In 2009 he produced the video installation UTOPIA on the subject of ‘freedom’. ROOT(S), one of the videos of this project, received the Audience Award and an Honorable Mention at the Sal International Film Festival, Cabo Verde, 2010. In 2009, he addressed the condition of the \u2018ideological prisoner\u2019 in his short film KATHARSIS. In 2011 he was invited to the Biennial of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe for which he produced the video SPRITU, presented at the City Museum of Lisbon in 2012. During this same period, also in Lisbon, he exhibited UTOPIA at Gra\u00e7a Brand\u00e3o Gallery.\u00a0He is the creator and author of the blog bianda.blogspot.com, which has received critical acclaim from the Cabo Verde media. He co-founded FICINE Itinerant Forum of Black Cinema (www.ficine.org<\/a>). From 2012 to 2016 he was the Coordinator of the Department of Cinema and Media Arts at the Ministry of Culture of Cabo Verde. Currently he is running the projects Storia na Lugar (www.storianalugar.net<\/a>) and Parenthesis – Art, Space, Dialogues (https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/parenthesis.art.space.dialogues\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Filipa C\u00e9sar<\/strong>\u00a0(Porto, 1975) is an artist and filmmaker interested in the porous borders between cinema and its reception, the politics and poetics inherent to imaging technologies and practices of decolonisation. Her research on cinema of the African Liberation Movement in Guinea Bissau and the resulting body of work comprises films, seminars, screenings, publications and ongoing collaborations with artists, theorists and activists. C\u00e9sar and Sana na N\u2019Hada established the loose knit collective, Luta ca caba inda, and with Diana McCarty she co-founded the elsewhere feminist collective. Her essay Meteorisations: Reading Am\u00edlcar Cabral\u2019s Agronomy of Liberation was published in Third Text. C\u00e9sar premiered her first feature length essay-film Spell Reel at the Forum section of the 67. Berlinale and is currently working on the collective research project Mediateca Onshore.
