interested in presenting some epistemological concerns about Art \/ Education based on decolonial thought, proposing education disobedience as an alternative to the decoloniality of this field of study. We aim to reveal that another way of education is possible and urgent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talk 1 &#8211; May 15th, 2020 &#8211; 6 pm &#8211; Rui Estrela and S\u00f3nia Vaz Borges &#8211; From education in the struggle for liberation to the liberation of the current colonial curriculum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based on the extensive educational work developed by the PAIGC during the liberation struggle in Guinea Bissau between 1963 and 1974, we will focus our conversation on the contributions of this process to think of education as a space for epistemological rupture and revolutionary practice, thinking through themes of militant education, revolution, decolonization, liberation, and education. Exploring these themes we will investigate education within this historical chapter, 47 years after the unilateral declaration of Guinea-Bissau&#8217;s independence, asking where does it belong?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talk 2 &#8211; May 20th, 2020 &#8211; 6pm &#8211; Rui Estrela and Cristina Rold\u00e3o &#8211; Racism and Education &#8211; the anti-racist struggle does not quarantine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At a time when it is believed that it is possible to carry out a radical change in the way we educate (within the formal education system, and throughout the non-formal education network), we have started an economic analysis which focuses on the school path for people of African descent. Patterns are identified and structural relations with the socio-economic conditions of schools show that the order made in April 1974 remains unfulfilled. Come to meet the contribution of militant sociologist Cristina Rold\u00e3o and to seek new ways of thinking education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talk 3 &#8211; May 25th, 2020 &#8211; 6 pm &#8211; Rui Estrela and Raquel Lima &#8211; Art and life &#8211; art as a form of activism in a decolonial education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Education through art from a space of disobedience. How can art change the way of educating? What is the place of the children of the African Diaspora who are part of this territory? What education can we have in times when Global Citizenship is advocated? She has been drawing a portrait of students of Afro-descendent in the Portuguese educational system, from primary to higher education, but also in other spheres of society. The history of black woman resistence in Portuguese society, institutional racism, &#8220;luso-tropical colour blindness&#8221;, ethno-racial data collection and affirmative action policies are issues she has been adressing in the public debate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raquel Lima<\/strong>\u00a0(Lisboa, 1983) is a poet, performer, art educator and a PhD Candidate in the program Post-Colonialisms and Global Citizenship of the Centre for Social Studies in the University of Coimbra, with her research focused on orature, slavery and afrodiasporic movements. She co-founded the cultural association Pantalassa (2011) and was the General Coordinator and Artistic Director of PortugalSLAM &#8211; International Festival for Poetry and Performance (2012-2017). She has a ten-year journey of oral poetry, a movement that has taken her to over a dozen countries in Europe, South America and Africa. During this period, she presented her work in literature, oral narration, poetry slam, spokenword, performance and music events, namely FLIP \u2013 Festa Liter\u00e1ria Internacional de Paraty, FLUP Rio &#8211; Festival Liter\u00e1rio das Periferias, FOLIO \u2013 Festival Liter\u00e1rio Internacional de \u00d3bidos, Festival Sil\u00eancio, Palavras Andarilhas, among others. She published her poetry in several languages and, besides the performances, she have been organizing poetry workshops, highlighting the &#8216;Workshop Poetry and Gender: for an intersectional poetic writing&#8217;, She is now collaborating with the research project Post-Archive: Politics of Memory, Place and Identity, from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. She published her first book and audiobook of poetry in October 2019, entitled Ingenuidade Inoc\u00eancia Ignor\u00e2ncia, by the editors BOCA and Animal Sentimental. She is part of the Anti-Racist Nucleus of Coimbra (NAC).<\/p>\n<p><strong>S\u00f3nia Vaz Borges<\/strong>\u00a0is a militant interdisciplinary\u00a0historian and long-time social and political organizer. Born and raised in Portugal, she is the daughter of Cape \u00a0Verdean\u00a0immigrants to\u00a0Portugal during the colonial period.\u00a0Since a young age, she developed a passion for History and later for throughout her academic life for interdisciplinary history. In this process, she developed also\u00a0a great curiosity for\u00a0the silenced histories of people, and peoples actions and roles during historic moments of socio-political change. The liberation struggles and social movements\u00a0around the world and their\u00a0internationalism and solidarity, in relation with the fields of education and memories, space and architectures, through the practice of\u00a0anti-colonial,\u00a0decolonial\u00a0<wbr \/>and militant research and writing, \u00a0are some of the topics that she is particularly interested in studying, teaching and\u00a0writing about.\u00a0Her career as an interdisciplinary historian was developed in three international public universities: Lisbon, Berlin and New York. \u00a0She has a\u00a0B.A in Modern and Contemporary History-Politics and International Affairs from ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, and an M.A in African History from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Lisbon.\u00a0In 2016\u00a0 she received her Ph.D. in Education Sciences- History of Education\u00a0from the Humboldt University of Berlin. In August 2019, she finished\u00a0her postdoctoral at the Center for Place, Culture and Politics (CPCP) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, under the theme Consciousness and Revolution.\u00a0Between 2007-2011, together with Eduina Vaz, she edited the booklets\u00a0Cadernos Consci\u00eancia e Resist\u00eancia Negra\/Notebooks Consciousness and Black Resistance. In 2014 her book\u00a0Na P\u00f3 di Sp\u00e9ra. Percursos nos Bairros da Estrada Militar, Santa Filomena e Encosta Nascente\/ In the Dust of Waiting. Paths in the neighborhoods\u00a0of Estrada Militar, Santa Filomena and Encosta Nascente,\u00a0was published by\u00a0Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Calouste Gulbenkian. \u00a0Along with filmmaker Filipa C\u00e9sar, she co-authored the short film\u00a0Navigating the Pilot School\u00a0(2016).\u00a0Currently, she is a researcher at the Humboldt University Berlin, working on the project &#8220;Bildung fur Alle.&#8221;\u00a0Eigen- und Fremdbilder bei der Produktion und Zirkulation eines zentralen Mythos im\u00a0Transnationalen Raum\/ &#8220;Education for all&#8221;\u00a0and the internal and external images regarding education in transnational space, focusing on\u00a0Mozambique and the FRELIMO liberation movement; Nicaragua and the Sandinistas\u00a0revolution.\u00a0She is too, on a personal\u00a0research project focused on The Walking Archives,\u00a0the liberation struggle, memory, generation\u00a0and imaginaries.<\/p>\n<p><b>Rui Estrela\u00a0<\/b>is a militant\u00a0 and community organizer that has been working political thought and practices from a decolonial point of view, using mutual aid and popular education as tools to achieve social transformation. Co-fundou a Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Cultural Pantalassa (2011) e foi coordenadora geral e directora art\u00edstica do PortugalSLAM \u2013 Festival Internacional de Poesia e Performance (2012-2017). Tem um percurso de dez anos de poesia oral, movimento que a levou a mais de uma dezena de pa\u00edses na Europa, Am\u00e9rica do Sul e \u00c1frica. Durante esse per\u00edodo, apresentou o seu trabalho em eventos de literatura, narra\u00e7\u00e3o oral, poetry slam, spokenword, performance e m\u00fasica, nomeadamente na FLIP \u2013 Festa Liter\u00e1ria Internacional de Paraty, FLUP Rio &#8211; Festival Liter\u00e1rio das Periferias, FOLIO \u2013 Festival Liter\u00e1rio Internacional de \u00d3bidos, Festival Sil\u00eancio, Palavras Andarilhas, entre outros. Publicou os seus poemas em diversas l\u00ednguas e, al\u00e9m de performances, tem realizado workshops, destacando os de poesia, ra\u00e7a e g\u00e9nero: para uma escrita po\u00e9tica interseccional. Actualmente colabora com o projecto de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o Post-Archive: Politics of Memory, Place and Identity da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa. Publicou, em Outubro de 2019, o seu primeiro livro e audiolivro de poemas intitulado Ingenuidade Inoc\u00eancia Ignor\u00e2ncia, pelas editoras BOCA e Animal Sentimental. Integra o N\u00facleo Antirracista de Coimbra (NAC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>S\u00f3nia Vaz Borges<\/strong> \u00e9 historiadora interdisciplinar, militante e organizadora social e pol\u00edtica de longa data.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Nascida e criada em Portugal, \u00e9 filha de imigrantes cabo-verdianos imigrados para Portugal durante o per\u00edodo colonial. Desde tenra idade, ela desenvolveu uma paix\u00e3o pela Hist\u00f3ria e, posteriormente, ao longo de sua vida acad\u00eamica, pela hist\u00f3ria interdisciplinar. Nesse processo, ela tamb\u00e9m desenvolveu uma grande curiosidade pelas hist\u00f3rias silenciadas das pessoas e pelas a\u00e7\u00f5es e pap\u00e9is das pessoas durante momentos hist\u00f3ricos de mudan\u00e7a s\u00f3cio-pol\u00edtica. As lutas de liberta\u00e7\u00e3o e os movimentos sociais ao redor do mundo e seu internacionalismo e solidariedade, em rela\u00e7\u00e3o aos campos da educa\u00e7\u00e3o e mem\u00f3rias, espa\u00e7o e arquiteturas, atrav\u00e9s da pr\u00e1tica de pesquisa e escrita anticolonial, decolonial e militante, s\u00e3o alguns dos t\u00f3picos que ela est\u00e1 particularmente interessada em estudar, ensinar e escrever sobre. Sua carreira como historiadora interdisciplinar foi desenvolvida em tr\u00eas universidades p\u00fablicas internacionais: Lisboa, Berlim e Nova York. \u00c9 bacharel em Hist\u00f3ria e Pol\u00edtica Moderna e Contempor\u00e2nea e Assuntos Internacionais pelo ISCTE &#8211; Instituto Universit\u00e1rio de Lisboa e possui mestrado em Hist\u00f3ria Africana pela Faculdade de Humanidades da Universidade de Lisboa. Em 2016, ela recebeu seu Ph.D. em Ci\u00eancias da Educa\u00e7\u00e3o &#8211; Hist\u00f3ria da Educa\u00e7\u00e3o pela Universidade Humboldt de Berlim. Em agosto de 2019, concluiu seu p\u00f3s-doutorado no Center for Place, Culture and Politics (CPCP) no Graduate Center of the City University of New York, sob o tema Consci\u00eancia e Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Entre 2007-2011, junto com Eduina Vaz, editou os folhetos Cadernos Consci\u00eancia e Resist\u00eancia Negra \/ Notebooks e Consci\u00eancia e Resist\u00eancia Negra. Em 2014, seu livro Na P\u00f3 di Sp\u00e9ra. Percursos nos Bairros da Estrada Militar, Santa Filomena e Encosta Nascente \/ No P\u00f3 da Espera. Caminhos nos bairros da Estrada Militar, Santa Filomena e Encosta Nascente, foram publicados pela Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Calouste Gulbenkian. Juntamente com a cineasta Filipa C\u00e9sar, \u00e9 coautora do curta Navigating the Pilot School (2016). Atualmente, ela \u00e9 pesquisadora da Universidade Humboldt de Berlim, trabalhando no projeto &#8220;Bildung fur Alle&#8221;. Eigen- e Fremdbilder bei der Produktion e Zirkulation eines zentralen Mythos im Transnationalen Raum \/ &#8220;Educa\u00e7\u00e3o para todos&#8221; e nas imagens internas e externas sobre educa\u00e7\u00e3o no espa\u00e7o transnacional, com foco em Mo\u00e7ambique e no movimento de liberta\u00e7\u00e3o da FRELIMO; Nicar\u00e1gua e a revolu\u00e7\u00e3o sandinistas. Ela tamb\u00e9m faz parte de um projeto de pesquisa pessoal focado em The Walking Archives, na luta pela liberta\u00e7\u00e3o, mem\u00f3ria, gera\u00e7\u00e3o e imagin\u00e1rios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Rui Estrela<\/strong>, militante da descoloniza\u00e7\u00e3o do pensamento e das pr\u00e1ticas pol\u00edticas, organizador comunit\u00e1rio de espa\u00e7os de educa\u00e7\u00e3o popular e de entreajuda para a transforma\u00e7\u00e3o social.
