About<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black”][vc_column_text]How many black men and women are represented in advertisement, television, movies, painting, photography and even in the books that we store in our shelves? How are they represented? I search on Google for “representation of a black body in visual culture”. Next to images of black bodies that are enslaved, sexualised, fetishized, submissive and savage, I find fresh visual and aesthetic narratives, new discourses generated from within, by those who are often the objects of these images, aiming at deconstructing the representations made by others about their own black bodies. This is the place where I find myself, this is my place.<\/p>\n

Post-graduation in Performance (Specialization Course) at Faculdade de Belas Artes – UP and a BA in Anthropology at FCSH – UNL.
\nTraining in Performance Arts and Intensive Training\/Forma\u00e7\u00e3o Intensiva Acompanhada (F.I.A.) by c.e.m. – centro em movimento, Lisboa. Interested in non-formal and artistic education, she has worked in projects of Art in the Community and Education through Art. Currently living in Porto, she is an Educator in the Educational Service of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Serralves; collaborates with A Oficina – Educa\u00e7\u00e3o e Media\u00e7\u00e3o Cultural – in Guimar\u00e3es and coordinates the educational project of ESPA\u00c7O SP620 – Salut Au Monde! – Porto. Frequently participates in collaborative and interdisciplinary projects that relate art, experimentation and activism.
\nPerformer, art-educator, member of the Cultural Association RAMPA, the InterStruct Collective and N\u00facleo Anti-Racista do Porto, currently integrates the team of curators of the Project Anu\u00e1rio 2020, invited by Galeria Municipal do Porto. As a researcher in the areas of Performance and Anthropology, she has developed research in Visual Culture, Image and Representation. In 2017, she co-created with Coletivo Ch\u00e1 das Pretas the performance cabelo, and was invited by choreographer Jocl\u00e9cio Azevedo to conceive a lecture-performance for the Project Document\u00e1rio that materialized in the performance-conference from submissive to political – the place of the black body in visual culture, a performance that has been presented in both artistic and academic contexts.<\/p>\n

Na publicidade, na televis\u00e3o, no cinema, na pintura, na fotografia, nos livros que temos nas nossas prateleiras, quantos homens e mulheres negros e negras est\u00e3o l\u00e1 representados? Como s\u00e3o representados? Pesquiso no Google por \u2018imagem e representa\u00e7\u00e3o do corpo negro na cultura visual\u2019, a par de imagens do corpo negro escravizado, sexualizado, fetichizado, submisso e selvagem, encontro novas narrativas visuais e est\u00e9ticas, novos discursos de quem se posiciona a partir \u2018da barriga da besta\u2019 para desconstruir e criar outras representa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre si mesmo, sobre o seu corpo negro. \u00c9 este o lugar onde me encontro.<\/span><\/p>\n
