Monique Prinsloo (South Africa) lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. She completed her master’s degree in Fine Art (MFA) at Michaelis School of Fine Art (UCT), in February 2012. Her MFA thesis titled “Falling into Gentle Ruin” focussed on finding inspiration from a vast collection of found images, objects, and writing. In 2013 Monique received a grant from the National Arts Council of South Africa to attend an artist residency at NES in Iceland, where she produced a body of work titled “Iceland: Reclaim of Form and Void”. Monique has pursued a full-time career in the Film Industry as a Storyboard Artist and Creative Researcher. Monique has exhibited her work in numerous group exhibitions in and around Southern Africa and has recently been invited to participate in the art project of the 10th Anniversary project for the Expatriate Archive Center in The Hague Netherlands, titled ‘Saudade’. Currently she has resumed her Fine Art career full time and continues to implement a photographic & illustrative based production in her artistic practice.
Monique Prinsloo (Africa do Sul) vive e trabalha em Cape Town, África do Sul. Completou seu Mestrado em 2012 na Escola de Belas-Artes Michaelis, com a tese “Falling into Gentle Ruin”, inspirada numa vasta coleção de imagens, objetos e textos encontrados. Em 2013 recebeu subvenção do Conselho Nacional de Artes da África do Sul para uma residência artística na Islândia, onde produziu uma série de trabalhos intitulada “Islândia: Reclaim of Form and Void”. Monique Prinsloo trabalha na área do cinema como artista criativa de storyboards e pesquisadora. Participou de várias mostras colectivas na África do Sul e é artista convidada do projecto “10º Aniversário do Centro de Arquivo de Expatriados na Holanda”, em Haia, intitulado “Saudade”.
