It was offered in association with the Indigenous Association of the Kuikuro People in Xingu (AIKAX). The artist selected was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conradmurray.org\/\">Conrad Murray<\/a>:\u00a0actor, writer, director, rapper and beatboxer, drama teacher and founding member\/facilitator for the last 9 years of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bac.org.uk\/beatboxacademy\">BAC Beatbox Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The second residency is scheduled for\u00a0<strong>November 2017\u00a0<\/strong>at Casa Rio. The selected artist is director and theatre-maker Gemma Kerr: co-founder of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.highhearted.com\/Site\/Welcome.html\">High Hearted Theatre<\/a>, Associate Director of<a href=\"http:\/\/www.forwardtheatreproject.co.uk\/\"><em>Forward Theatre Project<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(an Associate Company of Paines Plough), and Associate Artist of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/omnibus-clapham.org\/\"><em>Omnibus Clapham<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The third and last residency in this programme will take place in April 2018 between Rio de Janeiro \u2013 where the selected artist will spend a few days at the beginning and at the end of the residency \u2013 and Itaparica, Bahia state (North East Brazil) where he\/she will spend a month. It will be offered in association with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sacatar.org\/about-us\/\">Instituto Sacatar,<\/a>\u00a0an ocean-side historic estate run by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sacatar.org\/about-us\/\">Sacatar Foundation<\/a>\u00a0which engages with individuals, community organizations, schools, museums, libraries, and other cultural organizations to present public programmes, performances, and educational opportunities locally within Bahia and around the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Provisional dates (TBC with the selected artist):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0April 2018: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 arrival in Rio<\/p>\n<p>9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0April 2018: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 arrival at\u00a0Sacatar Institute, Itaparica<\/p>\n<p>7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0May 2018: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 return to Rio<\/p>\n<p>11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0May 2018: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 public sharing at Casa Rio<\/p>\n<p>12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0May 2018: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 return to UK<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The offer to the artist will include<\/u><\/strong>: economy flight London\/Rio\/London; and Rio\/Salvador\/Rio; airport transfers; flight insurance; accommodation; cooked food on some days and per diems on others; artists fee based on UK industry guidelines for artistic residencies; a small budget for materials; a local producer\/translator to support their project; a local team setting up and monitoring the residency with appropriate local partners; local transport costs; incidental costs appropriate to the residency (e.g. vaccinations, etc)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The aim of this programme is\u00a0to encourage artists interested in pursuing cultural projects with a social focus.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Artists from all artistic disciplines (installation, video art, sculpture, electronic music, painting, drawing, performance, photography, net art etc.) are invited to send a short proposal (see below for further details).<\/p>\n<p>Participating artists are expected to be open to work with others. Sacatar\u2019s team will introduce the selected artist to a range of possible partners in Itaparica in order to help develop the project he\/she aims to create during the residency. At the end of the residency, there will be a public sharing of the result of the month\u2019s work and the collaborations at Casa Rio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your\u00a0application for this third residency, in Rio de Janeiro and Itaparica, should include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal information (completed in the survey form)<\/li>\n<li>a short CV (uploaded)<\/li>\n<li>a link to your website, online portfolio, YouTube channel, or any other.<\/li>\n<li>A text (no more than 500 words) describing why you want to undertake this residency and how it relates to your current practice or plans for the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>IMPORTANT:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must be over 18.<\/li>\n<li>You must not be a full-time student and need to demonstrate 3 years of practice away from higher education or other training. However, if you are a very well established artist, this will not be the ideal residency for you.<\/li>\n<li>Please bear in mind that one of the aims of the residency is to introduce\u00a0<strong>emerging\u00a0<\/strong>artists to Brazil and its rich culture.
