Na Conversa de Artista, Alexandre Estrela fala sobre a sua exposi\u00e7\u00e3o Pockets of Silence<\/em>, realizada no Museu Reina Sofia, Madrid, em 2015 e toda a subjacente investiga\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

A apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o centra-se-\u00e0 na historia do rep\u00f3rter fotogr\u00e1fico Cesare Dante Vacchi, que se auto-proclamando veterano da Legi\u00e3o Estrangeira chega a assessor do ex\u00e9rcito portugu\u00eas em Angola. Em 1961 Vacchi cria um corpo de interven\u00e7\u00e3o especial que ainda hoje se denomina de comandos, com o qual punha em pr\u00e1tica as suas\u00a0 ideias exc\u00eantricas. Uma das suas t\u00e1ticas era a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de som como forma de camuflagem para anular o sil\u00eancio comprometedor que a natureza produzia \u00e0 passagem do seu pelot\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Na exposi\u00e7\u00e3o Estrela cruza estes dados com a investiga\u00e7\u00e3o desenvolvida pelo laborat\u00f3rio de Neuroci\u00eancias de Marta Moita (Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Champalimaud), sobre a transmiss\u00e3o social do medo atrav\u00e9s do sil\u00eancio. Em sua instala\u00e7\u00e3o o artista cria duas pe\u00e7as que num cen\u00e1rio agressivo comunicam entre si por pausas e sil\u00eancios.<\/p>\n

ALEXANDRE ESTRELA (PT)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alexandre Estrela (Lisbon, Portugal, 1971). Lives and works in Lisbon. The films created by Alexandre Estrela unfold as video-installations and projections, which expand spatially and temporally through different supports. With this procedure he configures the image as an entity that cannot be reduced to the field of representation, highlighting its possible material and physical consequences. Estrela is constantly problematizing the elements that constitute the act of seeing, the process of constructing different gazes and the possible splitting of vision into further sensible dimensions. Since 2008 Alexandre Estrela directs Oporto, a program of exhibitions and projects in Lisbon.<\/p>\n
