The aim of the Residency is to enlarge the artistic experience and deepen the perception of both local artists and students and members of the general public through direct contact with an established working artist. It also provides the opportunity for an artist with a developed style to experiment and take their work in new directions. The Residency\u00a0is followed by a selling exhibition of work at the museum.<\/p>\n

11th Muir Trust Residency \u2013 applications\u00a0open<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Muir Trust invites applications from established, mid-career, UK-based studio artists who wish to develop their creative practice by working with the County Museum collections. The 20 day residency will be based in Aylesbury during the period 18 September to 27 October 2017.<\/h3>\n

We are looking for an artist to select items from the varied collections in store and respond to these through their own medium to create new readings and interpretations. The artist will have a studio in the museum to display the selected exhibits and develop their own artistic responses. The residency is followed by an exhibition illustrating this creative process and finished work for sale.<\/p>\n

Applicants must have a developed personal style and be at a point in their career where they want the opportunity to re-invigorate their practice. Your work must be suitable for demonstration and execution in a museum environment within the given timescale. You must be able to engage with visitors about your work and inspirations. Open studio sessions, a workshop for adults and a public talk are required.<\/p>\n

An award of \u00a33,000 will be paid, plus an allowance for subsistence\/travel expenses.<\/p>\n
