MMCA Residency International Research Fellowship Program 2017<\/p>\n

MMCA Residency, run by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), launches an International Research Fellowship Program for curators, critics, and researchers. This research program aims to provide a sustainable platform to developing global networks and facilitate collaborative programming among art professionals.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Application Period: Monday, 5 September ~ Friday, 30 September, 2016<\/p>\n

(Online application is available from Monday, 12 September)<\/p>\n

* Application Deadline: 18:00 in Korean time, Friday, 30 September, 2016<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Residency Period: please choose one term only<\/p>\n

\u2013 1st term: 3 March \u2013 18 May, 2017 (1 researcher)<\/p>\n

\u2013 2nd term: 13 April \u2013 22 June, 2017 (1 researcher)<\/p>\n

\u2013 3rd term: 4 July \u2013 13 September, 2017 (1 researcher)<\/p>\n

\u2013 4th term: 20 September \u2013 7 December, 2017 (1 researcher)<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Number of Researchers: 1 researcher for each period\/ 4 researchers in total<\/p>\n

* If the jury does not find suitable candidates, MMCA Residency may not fulfill the total number of researchers.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Venue: MMCA Residency Changdong (257 Deongneung-ro, Dobong-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea)<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Nationality: All regions of the world (except Korea)<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Research Interest<\/p>\n

\u2013 Asian art in the 2nd half of the 20th Century<\/p>\n

\u2013 Contemporary Asian artists<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Eligibility<\/p>\n

\u2013 Curators, critics, or researchers who work in the related fields of Asian modern and contemporary art<\/p>\n

\u2013 Who have 5 years or more of experience in his\/her own area<\/p>\n

\u2013 Who have not previously participated in a residency program of MMCA Residency (Changdong\/ Goyang)<\/p>\n

\u2013 Who are fluent in English<\/p>\n

* Work partners, assistants, and family members are not allowed to stay at the residency together.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Support<\/p>\n

\u2013 Private studio with accommodation included (free of charge)<\/p>\n

\u2013 Monthly Grant: KRW 1,000,000(approx. USD 890) per month for living costs<\/p>\n

(total KRW 3,000,000 for the full residency period)<\/p>\n

* The grant will be transferred directly to the participant\u2019s Korean bank account every month and the total amount is subject to change based on one\u2019s residency period.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Meeting artists and art professionals in Korea<\/p>\n

\u2013 Access to the residency\u2019s facilities and resources<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Responsibilities<\/p>\n

\u2013 Round-trip airfare, meals, transportation, etc.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Work materials<\/p>\n

\u2013 Travel and Medical insurance<\/p>\n

* Selected researchers should submit a copy of insurance certificate to MMCA Residency Changdong. Researchers can be rejected without insurance.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Presentation or workshop to share the results of research<\/p>\n

\u2013 Final research paper before the presentation at the end of the fellowship<\/p>\n

\u2013 Participation in the programs, activities, events organized by MMCA Residency<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Facilities: Private Studio (46~60\u33a1) with Accommodation (furnished with a single bed, table, wardrobe, and other basic furnitures), Gallery \u2160(132\u33a1), Gallery \u2161(105\u33a1), Shared Toilet & Shower Room, Kitchen, Community Room, Outdoor Working Zone (191\u33a1) * Wireless Internet is available.<\/p>\n

We request applicants to apply in advance to avoid any possible errors or problems caused by the overflowing applicant crowd near the deadline.
