The storm is breath—circular, atmospheric—a force that links bodies, ecologies, and histories. Turning to the storm as both method and metaphor, I engage its capacity to be a vital, insurgent, and destructive site of possibility, capable of reconfiguring landscapes, identities, and collective memory. Building on Christina Sharpe’s theorization of “the weather” and aligned with the framework of Notes from the Future, I aim to develop ‘weathering’ as both a conceptual and practical methodology—attuned to an ecology of breath and disturbance, and responsive to environmental, political, and affective currents that shape how we relate to and understand temporality.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column icons_position=”left”][vc_separator][vc_column_text css=””]Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński is a Vienna-based visual artist, writer, and art-based researcher whose work unearths the remnants of Black presence within European archives. Rooted in Black feminist theory, her research-driven and process-oriented practice interrogates the conditions of Black life in the African diaspora. Moving fluidly between documentary and speculation, she crafts immersive narratives that collapse linear time and rigid spatial boundaries. Her practice is one of composing—bringing together people, histories, and contexts, weaving dialogues across disciplines, and fostering exchange through collaborations with artists and thinkers. In recent years, she has turned to breath as a thinking device—a means to explore liberation, voice, and expansion. Breath(ing), for her, is both metaphor and method, a way of engaging with others and creating spaces for collective reflection. Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński’s work unfolds across photography, video installations, performance, and text, manifesting in layered encounters with history and memory. Recent solo and group exhibitions include Aerolectics (2025) at Kunst Meran, Take a Breath (2024–25) at IMMA – Irish Museum of Modern Art, Respire Liverpool (2024) presented at Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art, Iré (2023) at Art X Lagos, and the Liverpool Biennial (2023).
