His practice is research-driven and usually exists at the intersections of political economy, story-telling and critical architecture &amp; planning. Through a delicate examination of the violence and intimacies that occur at the boundaries of lived experience and constructed histories, he uncovers the minutiae of power that organizes and regiments the world around us. Akhbari was trained as a sculptor at OCAD University and holds a graduate degree in visual studies from University of Toronto&#8217;s School of Architecture, Landscape and Design.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion of his residency at the HANGAR, on April 22nd, Akhbari will present, together with Carolina Grilo Santos, Joana Patr\u00e3o, and M\u00f3nica de Miranda, The Fold(s): a series of 4 artists&#8217; books curated by the MA and PhD students of The Lisbon Consortium of the Universidade Cat\u00f3lica Portuguesa &#8211; Agustina Molina, Alexandra Agostinho, Ana Carvalho, Ana\u00efs Jung, Brian Jay de Lima Ambulo, Gloria Adu-Kankam, Ilaria Sponda, Jeanne Pasquet, Joana Flor Rato, Jo\u00e3o Carvalha, Manon Klein, Victoria Page.
