Price:<\/strong> FREE![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”17661″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The workshop will have a double objective: presentation of some techniques of alternative photographic processes (cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, etc.) both from a theoretical and practical point of view. The techniques acquired will be used to create personal projects that should start from the concept of collective memory and individual memory.<\/p>\n

The practical part will include both collective (research at Feira da Ladra flea market, etc.) and individual research (family archive, some journal sketches, etc.) and practical exercises where the materials found will be worked on using the alternative photographic techniques presented in the first part of the workshop. The final objective of the course will be the creation of a piece of work by each participant.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”CONCEPT AND ORIENTATION” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator color=”black”][vc_column_text]D\u00e9lio Jasse (Luanda, 1980) lives and works in Milan. In his photographic work, Jasse brings together found footage and traces of past lives (found passports, family albums) to draw connections between photography – in particular the concept of the “latent image” – and memory. Jasse is also known for experimenting with analog photography processes such as “Van Dyke Brown” as well as developing his own printing techniques. The analog processes Jasse uses give his works a monotypic character, subverting the reproducibility of the photographic medium through direct intervention on unconventional media as well as the application of an emulsion with chromatic notes.<\/p>\n

Recent exhibitions include the collective Recent Histories: New Photography from Africa at the Walther Collection Project Space in New York, the official selection of the Dakar Biennale in 2016, Milan Expo (Angola Pavilion, 2015), the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2013) and the Bamako Photographic Encounters (2017 and 2011). In 2014 he was one of the three finalists for the BES Photo award and in 2015 he was selected for the official Angolan representation at the 56th Venice Biennale in Italy.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_separator color=”black”][vc_column_text]\u2022\u00a0 The workshop is aimed at young people from the African diaspora or immigrants, between the ages of 18 and 30;
