{"id":15360,"date":"2020-04-15T11:28:20","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T10:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hangar.com.pt\/?p=15360"},"modified":"2021-07-21T10:43:15","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T09:43:15","slug":"leticia-ramos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hangar.com.pt\/en\/leticia-ramos\/","title":{"rendered":"Let\u00edcia Ramos"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;5px&#8221;][vc_separator color=&#8221;black&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>UNIVERSAL HISTORY OF\u00a0EARTHQUAKES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">On November 1, 1755, on the of all the saints a great earthquake, following a fire and a tsunami, razed the city of Lisbon.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">In 1999 hundreds of people were evacuated from the coast of Algarve in anticipation of a possible huge wave.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">The first event branded the city with a new tradition.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">The second, however, inspired a collective illusion, a mirage created by the thermal and optical effect known as the <em>Fata Morgana<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To research these events, other topics have arisen: simulation devices and medical equipment for earthquakes, photography techniques of registered and calculated movement, and holographs and mirages. From these topics, the artist is going to develop a series of experiments that will result in unedited works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The project is financed by Bolsa de Artists of the Botin Foundation (Spain) in partnership with the HANGAR artistic residence (Lisbon) with finances from the Direc\u00e7\u00e3o-Geral das Artes&#8211; Portugese Government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more information, click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/historiauniversaldelosterremotos.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more information on the artist, click\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.leticiaramos.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>LET\u00cdCIA RAMOS<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(Santo Ant\u00f4nio da Patrulha, Brazil,1976).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She lives and works in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brasil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Her focus of artistic research is the creation of photography devices for the capture and reconstruction of movement, and her presentation materializes through video, photography, and installation mediums.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">With a special interest in science fiction, in her series like ERBF, Bit\u00e1cora and Vostok, she develops complex geographic romances. \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Chance and experiments with photography and artistic processes are present directions in her work. She has exhibited her work in artistic spaces like Tate Modern, Centro de Arte Piv\u00f4, Ita\u00fa Cultural, Centro Cultural S\u00e3o Paulo, Parque Lage, Museu Cole\u00e7\u00e3o Berardo, instituto Tomie Ohtake and CAPC\u2014 Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain (Bordeaux) and Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Iber\u00ea Camargo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">S<\/span><span class=\"s2\">he is the winner of important awards, artistic residencies and artistic production grants like the Mark Ferr\u00e9z Award, for the development of the project \u201cBit\u00e1cora\u201d (2011\/2012).\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">As a result of this research, she published the book of art \u201cCuaderno de Bit\u00e1cora\u201d and participated in The Arctic Circle (2011), a<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>sailboat headed towards the North Pole.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Her photographic work produced during the expedition was the winner of the Brasil Fotografia Award for contemporary research (2012).\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">In 2013, she participated in the program \u201cIslan Sesssion\u201d of the 9th Bienal of the Mercosul.
