Terminou a UAL Wimbledon Art College em 2013. Em 2015, sua curta-metragem documental \u201cRegarding Lambs in the City\u201d ganhou o pr\u00eamio do j\u00fari do 12\u00ba Festival de Cinema Independente de Pequim. Zhao Xu foi selecionado pelo 12\u00ba Festival de Cinema Independente da China, o 6\u00ba Festival Visual Chin\u00eas e o Festival de Cinema de Londres &#8221; We Are the People Film Festival &#8220;. Sua primeira longa-metragem \u201cHills and Mountains\u201d, de 2017, foi o filme de encerramento do Festival Internacional de Foto Jimei x Arles 2017. A longa foi exibida no programa \u201cNew Asian Scenery\u201d da UCCA.
