She earned her MFA in Media Studies from State University of New York in Buffalo and is currently a PhD student in the Department of Film and Digital Media at University of California, Santa Cruz. Her practice is driven by feminist theory and affective geography. Yulia examines how built environment and natural landscape engineer affect and shape practices of everyday life. The space and bodies that occupy it are mutually constitutive, and in her work Yulia is asking how we can make the space of community dwelling more inclusive and equitable.
