Charles Bhebe was born in Lupane, Zimbabwe. He lives and works in Bulawayo. Bhabe studied fine art at Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre. His first professional studio was at the National Art Gallery in Bulawayo from 1997 -1998, as a freelance artist. In 1998 he to Germany where he lived for 6 years. His two-dimensional work focusses on figurative images and their relation to the social scope. He develops a visual language for his emotional experience and discovered a mode of expressing himself visually through his elements\u00a0 (Figures), line and colour. His work has a strong interest in human interactions in urban environment \u2013 street hawkers, touts, obscure characters man and woman inhabiting urban spaces. His process involves picking these characters to mediate his message, the characters then become objects of his narratives. The paintings often integrate elements of familiarity to seek dialogue and understanding with his audience. He has been part of the Zimbabwean Pavilion team at the Venice Biennale 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
