There are now very rich and dense art histories and local practices that engage with the specificity of place, historical designation and particular social, political and cultural formations. Once these begin to circulate widely they are reduced to a simple signifying language that can be accommodated by an international art world. In this talk the problematic we are looking at here is that one cannot reproduce the entirety of local specificity as the work circulates and at the same time one needs to find some form that does signify internationally. What tools do we have at our disposal to rethink this dual modality of arts global circulations?[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Biography<\/h5>\n

Irit Rogoff is a writer, educator and curator.\u00a0 She is Professor of Visual Culture at Goldsmiths, University of London, at the department she founded in 2002. Rogoff works at the meeting ground between contemporary practices, politics and philosophy. Her current work is on new practices of knowledge production and their impact on modes of research, under the title of \u201cThe Way We Work Now\u201d (forthcoming). As part of the collective freethought Rogoff was one of the artistic directors of the Norwegian Triennial \u201cThe Bergen Assembly, September, 2016.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]Scientific coordination and organized by M\u00f3nica de Miranda
