Hangar presents an exposition by Jo\u00e3o Onofre.<\/span><\/p>\n

We present two works that explore sound as a fundamental component in works that center their attention between spiritual and conceptual traditions in art history.<\/span><\/p>\n

The works presented in this exhibition all deal with ideas of celebration, implicit form, and sound as a principal actor in art.<\/span><\/p>\n

Acousmatic sound is sound that we hear without knowing the source.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is used in cinema and other institutions to create suspense.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is an exhibition in which sound has the potential to create spaces in which poetry and action encounter cinematic and performative narratives.<\/span><\/p>\n

The selected pieces both touch upon the celebration of sound and impolitic form. The Onofre video\u2014 VOX 201, highlights more recent work of musician and composer Noberto Lobo. Acousmatic Arrangement Inside an Invisible Square 2013-2014 an exhibition that consists of an installation of 12 chimes (one of them prepared in\u00a0 <\/span>presented for the first time with D.E.A.D or R\u00e9, M\u00ed, l\u00e1, R\u00e9) for the first time in Portugal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Onofre (1976) lives and works in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n

He studied at the FBAUL and finished his master\u2019s degree at Goldsmiths College in London. Of his expositions highlights include: Plateau of Humankind -49a- Bienal de Veneza, Human Interest at Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia; Performing Bodies, Tate Modern, London; Youth of Today, Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt; Video, An Art, A History 1965-2005 New Media collection, Centre Pompidou, MCBA, Barcelona- Fundaci\u00f3 La Caixa, Taipei Fine Art Museum.<\/span><\/p>\n
