Isabella Benshimol (Caracas, 1994) lives and works between Madrid and Milan where she completed her painting and visual arts B.A. at (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan) in February 2016 with her thesis project Whale Vomit Can Make You Rich. She often works through video and performance questioning the contemporary idea of pleasure and our unbridled desire for it. She seeks to find the most carnal aspects in all situations and everyday objects, seduced by the plasticity of artificial matter. In 2016, together with Mati Jhurry she undertook a residency with /77 in Milan where they developed their duo project Exotic Embassy which is still ongoing and was recently shown in Pescara, Italy at the exhibition “Fuori uso” curated by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and Simone Ciglia and in Madrid at the exhibition “Como era gostoso o meu francês” in OTR, curated by Marlon de Azambuja and Maya Saravia. She also took part in the group exhibition “Atelier Solar” at Espacio Trapezio in Madrid in 2016. Isabella will have a solo show in Caracas, Venezuela at G7 gallery in 2017.
