The first moment of this research takes the form of a solo exhibition of João Onofre, opening the July 10th, at HANGAR. Through exhibitions, artist talks and conferences, this research project aims to establish a timeline of significative events, relevant to the Portuguese artistic milieu, frequently unknown from the general public and sometimes even from the agents in the artistic scene. Transnômades, São Paulo (32ª Bienal de São Paulo – Incerteza Viva) (2016) O programa, intitulado NEM TANTO A SUL NEM TANTO A NORTE, é constituído por uma programação diversa de conferências, exposições, residências artísticas e performances desenvolvidas por artistas, curadores e académicos. ©Rodrigo Tavarela Peixoto Entre Linhas é uma exposição inserida temporal e fisicamente no Bairro de Marvila entre as duas linhas de comboio na rua de Marvila. O Palácio Marquês de Abrantes serve de enquadramento e local de exposição de vários trabalhos de cinco artistas - Andreia Santana, Diogo Allen, Igor Jesus, João Ferro Martins e Rodrigo Tavarela Peixoto, que durante vários meses travaram conhecimento com a história do bairro e dos seus habitantes. (IM)Possibilities 4th to 17th December (IM)Possibilities is the sixth edition of Triangle Network (trianglenetwork.org) workshop held in Hangar. IM) Possibilities aims to be a reflection on what is a possibility or its failure. To think about the defeats of the possible within history, what has remained to be done or to say, or even the action of making happen what is not predictable and safe, but which makes the impossibility to create beyond all limits. The workshop follows TN’s international network model, i.e., gather a group of local and international artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, geographies, ages and disciplines (in equal numbers) for a period of two weeks, allowing them to work collectively and to exchange artistic, process and cultural experiences. Nikissi Serumaga is the program manager of 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, created for the professional development of Ugandan artists. In conjunction with her colleagues, she develops and executes a year-round programming which showcases the works of 32° East's previous artists in residence, offers members and residents resources to increase their technical skills and assists them concept development. Previous to the 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, she connected with African film through her coordinator role at Encounters Documentary Festival in Cape Town, as programmer at Maisha African Film Festival in Gulu, her support of Africa/Middle East portfolio at Toronto International Film Festival and as casting associate on the feature film Queen of Katwe (dir. Francis Nii Obodai Provencal é fotógrafo. Vive e trabalha em Accra, no Gana. Sua fotografia investiga os aspectos das complexas relações dentro da cultura urbana e rural, registrando a realidade dinâmica da nossa espiritualidade e meio ambiente, contando as histórias das pessoas com quem ele se conecta. Seu trabalho tem sido largamente exibido. Nii Obodai é membro fundador do Beyond Collective, em Accra. Criou o Nuku Studio, onde promove um programa anual de oficinas com o objectivo de desenvolver o conhecimento fotográfico e a criatividade, além de melhorar as habilidades de comunicação junto aos fotógrafos. Luis Plácido Costa (b.1981, Alcobaça) lives and works between Alcobaça and Lisbon. Diogo da Cruz is a conceptual artist based in Lisbon. He received a BA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fines Arts of Lisbon (2012) and a Diploma in Free Kunst from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (2016), where he studied with the professor Hermann Pitz, and the guest professors Ceal Floyer, Andrea Fraser and Tyler Coburn. Dana Whabira é uma artista zimbabuense cuja herança familiar e cultural vêm da Argentina, Polônia, África do Sul e Zimbábue. Nascida em Londres de pais imigrantes - pai em exílio político, e tendo mudado para um novo Zimbabwe, seu trabalho reflete essa interação complexa de euforia pós-independência e colonialidade. Com formação em arquitectura, Whabira estudou arte e design no Central Saint Martin's College em Londres (2011). Sua primeira exposição individual “Suspended in Animation” foi realizada na Galeria Nacional do Zimbábue em 2013. Participou de exposições colectivas em Joanesburgo (2015), Pretória (2015) e Harare (2012), além de residências artísticas e palestras no Zimbábue e outros países. Loli Aldazabal (1980, Buenos Aires, ARG). Lives and works in Buenos Aires. Graduated in Visual Arts at Santa Ana Institute of Fine Arts, Aldazabal uses photography and painting as her main artistic process. She has participated in many exhibitions, including the XXII Student Encouragement Hall of the Municipality of Avellaneda, where she got a Jury Mention.
